BMCCI Election Set For April 9

Begawan - Brunei Malay Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BMCCI),
one of the Sultanate's oldest business organisations, is expected to
hold an Annual General Meeting (AGM) next April 9 to elect a fresh
mandate.
It will be held in the conference
room at its office of Block D, No. 1, Beribi Industrial Complex,
Gadong around 9am.
Its previous elections had never
failed to create interest among the Malay business community that
looks up to the chamber as its guardian.
The upcoming event looks like it will
be an explosive one as some candidates have been actively campaigning.
BMCCI
has always commanded high regards and respects as its members include
successful businessmen like Pehin Dato Paduka Hj Abd Hapitz Pehin
Laksamana Hj Abd Razak, Hj Razali Hj Johari, Dr Hj Kamaruddin Dato
Seri Paduka Hj Talib and Sheikh Abas Sheikh Mohamad, to name a few.
In announcing the event, Hj Muhammad
POKILBMDSU Hj Ismail Seruddin, its Executive Director of
Administration cum AGM Coordinating Secretary, advised those who wish
to attend to clear up outstanding fees for the year 2005 as only
paying members will be allowed to propose and vote.
The AGM will also hear an address by
its incumbent President and discuss annual reports from the Secretary
General and Treasurer General.
Candidates will also each be given an
opportunity to reveal their manifestos for five minutes. After the
election, there will be speeches from old and new leaders. --
