Awards Presented To Sports Excellence Recipients

Bandar Seri Begawan - The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports held a presentation ceremony at its Di-Gadong Hall for Sports Excellence Motivation Scheme recipients under the Winner's Awards category.

Guest of honour at the ceremony was Awg Hj Jemat Hj Ampal, Permanent Secretary.

In his speech, the guest of honour explained that among its objectives was motivating talented and potential athletes to upgrade their training from time to time for excellent skills and achievements in any competition, be it on a national, regional or international level.

Furthermore, the scheme is also aimed to provide coaches, officers and leaders motivation in their voluntary involvement and appreciate the deeds, sacrifices and contributions in developing Bruneian sports.

About 35 athletes received the Winner's Awards of Sports Excellence Motivation Scheme.

They have been successful in getting medals and also breaking records at regional as well as international levels with the guidance of instructors and national sport groups.

Rewards were also given to 11 instructors, one assistant trainer and five national sport teams.

The committee has agreed that the amount contributed so far from 2002 to 2004 is B$165,950.
