Empire Hotel Turns Over $73,000 For Tsunami Relief Fund

Bandar Seri Begawan - The Empire Hotel and Country Club yesterday presented more contributions to the Tsunami Disaster Relief Fund.

A total of $73,848.27 was raised by Empire team members, who pitched in to collect funds in aid of the Tsunami victims.

Representatives from each department of the hotel presented the contributions to Awang Haji Jemat Bin Haji Ampal, the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, at a cheque presentation ceremony held at the Empire Hotel.

The Empire Hotel and Country Club also presented a cheque for $1,094.32 which was contributed by guests through the Tsunami Collection Box placed at the reception counter.

Awang Haji Jemat thanked the Empire Hotel and Country Club for the contributions.

In January this year, the hotel presented a cheque for $32,249 to the Relief Fund for Victims of Tsunami Disaster.

The money was the unclaimed funds from the New Year's Eve cancellation of events together with a portion of the hotel's revenue over the New Year's Eve weekend. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
