Red Tide Found High In Brunei Waters

Bandar Seri Begawan – The concentration of the red tide organisms is found to be high in the Brunei waters.

Following continuous monitoring by the Fisheries Department, it was found that waters off Pelong, Pelumpong to Meragang, Berakas and Jerudong, Lubuk Simpur, Serasa, Ujung Sapuh, Pulau Bedukang and Pulau Keingaran are affected by the phenomenon.

Members of the public are once again reminded to abstain from consuming small fish and molluscan shellfish from the affected waters or unknown origin.

Members of the public and fishermen can assist the Department in reporting any water discolouration or any mass fish mortalities to telephone lines 881-9218, 876-9730, 878-6399 or 888-7480. -- Courtesy of Radio Television Brunei
