By Izam S. Ya'akub
Bandar Seri
Begawan - A Motivational camp for uniformed groups of secondary
schools came to a close yesterday with a closing ceremony at the
Berakas Recreational Forest Reserve.
The uniformed groups consisted of
Scouts, Girl Guides, the Red Crescent, Police Cadets and Army Cadets.
Present as the guest of honour at the
ceremony was Superintendent Mohd Zaini bin Hj Mohd Sanip, Commandant
of the Royal Brunei Police Force's Training Centre.
It was organised by the Co-curriculum
Education Department, Ministry of Education.
The motivational camp was held in
conjunction with this year's first term school break which began last
Saturday.
Twelve secondary schools from
BruneiMuara and Temburong Districts took part in the event.
More than 100 students got involved
in sporting activities such as orienteering, ice breaking sessions and
motivational talks alongside day-to-day events to allow the
participants to know each other well.
Among the highlights of the camp was
the visit of Pehin Dato Paduka Hj Suyoi bin Hj Osman, who surprised
the participants by dropping in impromptu and seeing first hand the
activities taking place.
The camp was aimed to help motivate
school children to become proactive, productive, efficient, innovative
and responsible individuals. --
