Laos Prime Minister Arrives In
Brunei Today

Begawan - Bounnhang Vorachith, the Prime Minister of the Lao
People's Democratic Republic, and spouse will arrive today for a
three-day official visit to the country.
He is leading a 16-member delegation,
which includes Phongsavath Boupha, the Deputy Minister of Foreign
Affairs; Dr. Phankham Viphavanh, Head of the Prime Minister's Office;
Sithong Chimhotinh¸ Director-General for Asia-Pacific and Africa
Department; and Thonphanh Syackhophom, Deputy Director-General of
Protocol Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During his stay in the country, His
Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei is expected to grant
an audience to the Prime Minister, who will also visit various places
of interest in the country, including a river cruise around Kg. Ayer,
Temburong national park and Jame `Asr Hassanil Bolkiah mosque.
The premier is also expected to visit
the Royal Regalia, Arts and Handicrafts Training Centre Museums and
Lambak Kanan National Housing Scheme.
This is his second visit to the
country, the first being during the Asean Summit in 2001.
Brunei established diplomatic
relations with the Laos People's Democratic Republic on July 27, 1993.
On February 26, 1997, Brunei formally setup its mission in Vientiane.
Both countries have established ties
especially in the fields of education and communications. --
