Workers Decry Ex-Employer's
Harassment
By Rosli Abidin Yahya
Bandar Seri
Begawan - A few foreign workers here allege they have been
subjected to harassment by their former employer for unknown reasons.
They told the Bulletin that their
former employer allegedly made "false" reports causing them distress,
difficulty and grief.
They said the reports were proven
wrong and no action was taken against them.
"Prior to working at the current
company, we worked for him. We went home after we completed our
contracts.
"However, on knowing we have returned
to this country and currently working for other companies, he (the
former employer) started to harass us," they alleged.
They said the harassment was more
personal. He said they and the former employer came from the same
village.
"He may have felt betrayed after we
moved to a new company. But it is our right to do so," they said.
They said their former employer had
harassed them on at least three occasions for reasons they did not
know.
"We work legally in this country and
we never break any law here. But our former employer should also watch
out, he might be charged with making false reports.
"We are also thinking of taking legal
action to claim damages for the mental anguish caused by him as we
have gathered proofs that he was responsible for our difficulties,"
they said. --
