Belait Families Cashing In On Rice Production

Kuala Belait – Labi families in this district are cashing in on rice planting these days.

From traditionally plating rice for family consumption only, it has become a source of income, particularly for those who have been involved in rice planting since their childhood.

Radio Television Brunei (RTB) crew found that at present residents in the Labi area in the Belait District are now busy harvesting their rice plantation.

Their harvest will be sold to the Agriculture Department as well as to relatives and friends.

There are also families, who have settled at other places, but still have land in the area which they have planted with rice.

Dayang Sa'adiah bte Abdullah, a 65-year-old convert and one of the residents from Kampong Sungai Lalit, Lumut, owns a half acre rice field.
