Standing in on behalf of the Public
Prosecutor, DPP Dyg Suhana bte Hj Sudin said the prosecution is
still waiting for the forensic report on the exhibits found at the
house, which was sent to a Singapore lab.
Pending the result, the defendant
will be remanded at the Jerudong Prison until the next mention
fixed on April 4 at 2pm.
During the hearing yesterday,
defence counsels for the defendant, Mr Siva Sankaran from Check
Sankaran and Halim Advocates and Solicitors, applied to the court
for Richard to be discharged but not amounting to an acquittal.
Senior Magistrate Mohd Faisal,
however, dismissed the application.
The magistrate said that he
believed the prosecution is not delaying the matter unnecessarily,
bearing in mind that it is a triple murder case.
The defendant, a 53-year-old car
salesman and a father of two, is facing the death penalty if
convicted of the murder charges.
He was charged with three counts
of murder, specifically committing murder by causing the death of
Maual bin Jambu, 44, an engineer, followed by 37-year-old teacher
Seniwati bte Untong, and Neena Asmira bte Aziz, 2. |
