Dinner For Rotarians Joining Inter Club Meet

Bandar Seri Begawan - The Rotary Club of BSB last night hosted a dinner for Rotarians attending the Centennial 18th Pan Borneo Inter Club Meet 2005 at the Empire Hotel and Country Club in Jerudong.

The guest of honour was Virginia H. Benavidez, Philippine Ambassador to Brunei.

Also present were other members of the diplomatic community in the country as well as fellow Rotarians and spouses.

The highlight of the night was the induction of the guest of honor as honorary member of the RC of Bandar Seri Begawan by Dr. Ivor Thevathasan, the District Governor.

"I am very happy that the programmes are running smoothly, and this is a historical event that RC of BSB has ever hosted," said host club president Jeff Yong PHF in his welcoming speech.

He said the Rotary Club of Bandar Seri Begawan is honoured to have been given the opportunity to host this event in the centennial celebration year of Rotary International.

The three-day meet from March 18 to 20 saw more than 150 Rotarians from 24 Rotary Clubs in Sabah, Sarawak, Brunei, Labuan and also from Singapore and 'West Malaysia converge in Brunei.

The Pan Borneo Inter Club Meet is an annual event hosted by Rotary Clubs from Sabah, Sarawak, Labuan and Brunei in Borneo.

The event started as an intercity meet between Rotary Clubs of Kuching, Sibu and Miri in 1984. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
