Ministry Hosts Dinner For Under-21 Footballers

Bandar Seri Begawan - Brunei hosted a dinner for the Hassanal Bolkiah Trophy for Under-21 Asean Youth Football Championship 2005 last Friday night at the Goldstone Ballroom of the Centrepoint Hotel in Gadong.

On hand to deliver the welcoming speech at the dinner was Hj Khalid Hj Ghazali, Special Duties Officer at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.

He said in his speech that the young players had shown excellent sportsmanship as well as a high level of skill, which showed that Asean could also produce some world-class sportsmen and women.

It was also a night for the youths to mingle, establish friendships and to further contribute to the region's stability, future growth and development.

The guest of honour at the dinner was Pehin Dato Seri Paduka (Dr.) Hj Awg Hussain, the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports and Chairman of the Main Organising Committee of the Hassanal Bolkiah Trophy for Under-21 Asean Youth Football Championship 2005.

The guest of honour later presented souvenirs to all the Technical Officials and Referees involved in the Hassanal Bolkiah Trophy 2005.

The function also featured a cultural performance by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, and a lucky draw for the tickets given out during the Opening Ceremony of Hassanal Bolkiah Trophy 2005. The winning numbers were to be announced later. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
