2 Local Thieves Jailed And Whipped

Bandar Seri Begawan - Two locals were jailed and given strokes of the cane after they were found guilty of theft and mischief yesterday.

DPP Mohd Esnawi yesterday had proven the case against Ibrahim bin Tassan and Ak Saizam bin Pg Anak Said.

Ibrahim was jailed for six months with two strokes of the cane. Ak Saizam got six months' imprisonment with four strokes of the rattan.

Both defendants were convicted of stealing electrical cables at the Electrical Sub-Station in Setia Kenangan Complex, Kiulap, on January 23, last year.

On a second count, Ak Saizam was convicted of committing mischief by causing damage to the electrical sub-station.

The third charge against both defendants stated they had stolen electrical cables at the Electrical Sub-Station in Spg. 339, Jalan Subok on November 23, 2003.

The fourth charge said both defendants committed mischief by causing damage to the same electrical sub-station. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
