$100,000 Budget For Consultative
Council Activities
Bandar Seri
Begawan – A $100,000 budget for 2004-2005 has been allocated to
assist the councils in implementing planned activities.
The allocation is in line with the
efforts of the Ministry of Home Affairs to assist the Mukim and
Village Consultative Councils.
Dato
Awang Haji Idris bin Belaman, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of
Home Affairs, made the disclosure at the presentation of certificate
of appointment to the new Ketua of Kampong Bunut Perpindahan
yesterday.
Dato
Awang Haji Idris, however, deplored certain Consultative Councils that
failed to utilise the allocation beneficially.
The Permanent Secretary stressed
there are some councils though that are actively involved in enhancing
the country's economy and propagating Islam.
He urged the Mukim and Kampong
Consultative Councils to continue to work out sustainable annual
programmes for every village.
Awang
Haji Adanan bin Haji Mohmad Salleh, 61, a former staff of the
Immigration Department, was elected Ketua Kampong Bunut Perpindahan on
May 22, 2004.
Prior to his appointment, the village
was supervised by the Penghulu of Mukim Kilanas.
Kampong Bunut Perpindahan is one of
the villages that make up Mukim Kilanas.
It has 1,834 people who reside in 192
houses.
In an interview with Radio Television
Brunei (RTB), Awang Haji Adanan hoped that the residents will work
together in the development of the village.
