SMARTER Gets Over $5,000 Donation
From HSBC

Begawan - HSBC yesterday presented a contribution of $5,135 to
SMARTER Association, Brunei (Society for the Management of Autism
Related issues in Training, Education and Resources) as part of its
continuous efforts to engage with and help the local community.
The funds were raised during the
recent HSBC Premier Garden Party charity sale held in conjunction with
the Rolls Royce Enthusiasts' Club (RREC) Tour of Borneo leg in Brunei.
The charity items sold during the event included limited edition RREC
caps, mugs and t-shirts.
On hand to present the cheque was Dyg
Hjh Normah binti Hj Ismail, Co-chairperson of HSBC's Corporate Social
Responsibility Committee.
Representing SMARTER Association was
Malai HajiAbdullah bin Malai Haji Othman, President of the
association.
The presentation ceremony took place
at SMARTER premises in Sengkurong.
"It has always been HSBC's commitment
to be able to support special children particularly in the field of
education.
This contribution demonstrates the
support and commitment to help the community and in particular the
special needs children in Brunei Darussalam," said Dyg Hajah Normah.
Malai
Haji Abdullah thanked HSBC for being instrumental in organising the
charity sale event and for their strong and continuous support of
SMARTER Brunei.
"The collection will be used to
finance the running of two Autism Spectrum Disorder Centres, which
provides Early Intervention Programmes for autistic children," said
Malai Haji Abdullah.
"SMARTER Brunei is a non-profit
organisation and the operations of our centres rely heavily on public
generosity.
I hope other organisations will come
forward to support us and follow the gesture demonstrated by HSBC,"
added Malai Haji Abdullah.
