ISB Launches `Pirates Of Penzance'
By Helena M. Mahathir
Bandar Seri
Begawan - International School Brunei's (ISB) latest musical
production, `The Pirates of Penzance' held at the Empire Theatre from
March 15-16 was a runaway success.
Sponsored by HSBC, the musical
received a great response from the public and followed the success of
the school's previous musical productions, `Carousel' and `The King &
I'.
ISB's
`The Pirates of Penzance' was directed and choreographed by Helen Swan
while Nick Jefferson was the musical director.
Together with the rest of the
production team, talented cast and crew, months of preparations and
rehearsing paid off as audiences were kept entertained with the
colourful and comedic performance, enhanced by the full orchestral
accompaniment.
`The Pirates of Penzance' was written
in 1880 by WS. Gilbert and Sir Arthur Sullivan, whose works have
remained popular since they were first performed with many Dramatic
Societies all over the world now performing them.
ISB
has over the last three years built an enviable reputation for
performing fully staged musical productions.
The students have enjoyed rehearsing
and performing the piece, especially for the enthusiastic crowd who
has showed up and has been looking forward to the next musical
production. --
