Dinner For Indonesian Big Bikers From PEMODA

Bandar Seri Begawan - A group of more than 30 Harley Davidson bikers from Indonesia were treated to a special dinner hosted by the Brunei Darussalam Motorcyclists Association (PEMODA) yesterday at Holiday Lodge Hotel in Jerudong.

The dinner, which was sponsored by Seri Sentosa Sdn Bhd, was to welcome the Indonesian riders to Brunei.

The group, called the Harley Davidson Owners Group Indonesia (HOG), is one of the foremost Harley Davidson groups in Indonesia.

The group is currently on an expedition across Sabah, Brunei, Sarawak and Kalimantan called "Chapter Pesona Lintas Khatulistiwa" tour.

It is the second group of bikers from Indonesia to visit Brunei.

Present as the guest of honour during the dinner was Yusbar Jamil, Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Brunei.

Also attending the event were Awg Hj Abu Bakar bin Hj Md Arshad, Chairman of PEMODA; Jamal Hasim, Seri Sentosa Manager; and, members of PEMODA.

In his welcoming speech, chairperson of the event, Pg Hj Redzuan bin Pg Hj Ahmad, said the dinner was a great opportunity for members of PEMODA and HOG to exchange experiences, know-how and skills.

He added that PEMODA is the only registered motorcyclists association in the Sultanate that is actively engaged in various activities, including the recent charity ride for tsunami victims.

Pg Hj Redzuan said in almost nine years of its existence since it was first established in 1996, the association has been successful in uniting high-powered big-bike users and owners in the Sultanate with members now numbering around 415 riders from various age groups and walks of life.

He added that PEMODA is expected to host the Borneo Island Big Bike Festival 2005 this September.

PEMODA will also be sending participants for an expedition from Brunei to Pontianak, Kalimantan in Indonesia sometime in March.

The eight-day expedition is part of PEMODA's annual activity.

In addition, PEMODA will also be sending participants to Jakarta for the upcoming Jakarta-Bali tour in April, Pg Hj Redzuan concluded.

The dinner ended with a presentation of souvenirs from PEMODA to the guest of honour, head of the HOG delegation and Sri Sentosa. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
