RBA Holds Emergency Response
Exercise
By James Kon
Bandar Seri
Begawan - The national carrier, Royal Brunei Airlines (RBA)
last Wednesday successfully carried out an Airline Emergency Response
Simulation exercise, assessing the effectiveness of the airline's
emergency response plan and staff preparedness in the event of an air
disaster.
In a press release, RBA said that the
simulation exercise was set against a simulated accident whereby an
inbound Royal Brunei Airlines aircraft "overshot" the runway and
"crashed".
The entire staff and management of
RBA, based in Brunei, were involved in the exercise.
Upon activation, the airline's core
response teams, namely, from the Crisis Management Centre, Passenger
Care Information Centre, Accident Field Team and the Family Assistance
and Support Team, among others, swung into action.
The exercise also sought to test the
airline's internal procedures and to obtain suggestions for
improvement on any weakness.
A similar exercise will be held in
the future to ensure that RBA can maintain an emergency response
capability, allowing it to contain and manage any major event or
situation that threatens the wellbeing of the airline. --
