Clerk Further Remanded In Misappropriation Case

Bandar Seri Begawan - A 38-year-old former Grade II Clerk at the Examinations Department, Ministry of Education was further remanded pending sentencing after he pleaded guilty to three charges of misappropriating money before the Bandar High Court yesterday.

Judge Datin Paduka Hjh Hayati heard from DPP Pg Nina Jasmine that the defendant Mohd Noor bin Litoh had misappropriated money payable by the government to various claimants on three occasions.

The total amount the defendant took in Criminal Breach of Trust between December 16 and 29, 1999 is $31,290.49.

Meanwhile, between March 13 and December 27, 2001, the defendant had taken a total amount $177,824.22.

The court further heard that the defendant had misappropriated a total of $117, 979.47 between January 12 and April 1, 2002.

Mohd Noor bin Litoh will be produced before the court for sentencing on April 5 this year.-- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
