PAKAR
Faction Elects Own Office Bearers
By Rosli Abidin Yahya
Bandar Seri
Begawan - The other faction of the feuding Parti Kesedaran
Rakyat Brunei (PAKAR) held their meeting yesterday at the Royal Brunei
Golf Club in Berakas, which they claimed was done to fulfill the
requirement of the Registrar of Societies (ROS).
ROS had
earlier sent a notification for both factions to hold a unified
meeting in their search for a solution to prevent the party from
breaking up.
Last Tuesday afternoon, the faction
loyal to the party president held their meeting at the Riverview Hotel
in Gadong where they elected new committee members.
Yesterday's meeting, which was
organised by the faction loyal to the secretary-general, also elected
another set of committee members to lead the party for a five-year
term.
Both factions will now submit the
minutes of their meetings to the ROS which they hope will determine
which faction has the right to lead the political party.
ROS
meanwhile had earlier told the Bulletin that it will not interfere in
the party's internal feud.
Before the election was carried out,
present party members unanimously voted to suspend some parts of the
party constitution to allow for the appointment to take place.
Dr Hj Jumat Hj Idiris was elected as
the president and Hj Osman Hj Omar, the deputy president.
Four members, Hj Sanip Alias, Pg Hj
Razali Pg Hj Md Said, Ramli Hj Serudin and Pg Jeludin, were elected as
the new vice presidents.
