Aluminium Theft Suspects Remanded For 10 Days

Bandar Seri Begawan - Two Malaysian men and a permanent resident who allegedly stole 50 kilogrammes of aluminium from the vicinity of Lambak Industrial area were remanded at the Muara Police Station for ten days for further investigations to be conducted.

The trio, Ali Ismail bin Bagol, Aliuddin bin Bagol, and Mohammad Hairryuefaizura bin Abdullah all appeared before the Bandar Magistrate's Court yesterday for the charge to be read.

No plea was taken.

All of them were charged with committing the offence together with another person on or about March 14 this year.

This is an offence punishable under section 379 of the Penal Code that carries an imprisonment for a term which may extend to 3 years or a fine or both.

The prosecuting officer, Noradinah bte Haji Ramlee, yesterday said the defendants were only arrested two days ago.

She said the remand application was made based on the fact that the defendants are believed to be involved in other theft-related cases.
