Brunei Joins Asean To Discuss Education Issues In Vietnam

Bandar Seri Begawan - Brunei and nine other Asean member countries yesterday discussed efforts towards pressing education issues in the region, RTB reported.

The issues included water and sanitation facilities in schools the use of information technology and education as a means of achieving peace.

The discussion was held in Hanoi, Vietnam during the four-day 40th Southeast Asia Ministers of Education Council Conference, SEAMEO.

Brunei was represented by Pehin Dato Seri Setia Haji I Awag Abdul Aziz, Minister of Education.

Foremost in this year's meeting is the SEAMEO's institutional response to the Asian Tsunami Disaster that severely affected two members, Indonesia and Thailand.

Besides signing several Memorandum of Understandings, the ten education ministers also attended a special forum organised by the Ministry of Education and Training, Vietnam, to explore the education offered to disadvantaged children. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
