Two Foreigners Jailed And Caned For Overstaying

Bandar Seri Begawan – Two foreign nationals were sentenced yesterday by the Bandar Seri Begawan Magistrate's Court for immigration offences.

The two men were convicted of overstaying in the country after their immigration passes had expired.

Perumal Ramesh, 29, from India was sentenced to three months imprisonment and three strokes of the cane whilst Shamiurrahman Akhtar Hussain, 34, from Bangladesh was sentenced to four months imprisonment and three strokes of the cane. -- Courtesy of Radio Television Brunei
