Brunei Currency Used In Lawas
Lottery

Begawan - A raid by the Sarawak police last Sunday on illegal
four-digit lottery operations in Lawas revealed that Brunei dollars
along with Malaysian and Singapore currencies were used in the lottery
operations.
Sarawak police believed that the two
raids had successfully paralysed an illegal four-digit lottery
syndicate that was possibly taking bets from locals here.
Malaysian newspaper reported that
Brunei currencies were found at one of the places. In the second raid
on a shop house, police recovered B$85,000.
They also arrested 10 people and
seized over RM300,000 in various currencies, including Brunei and
Singapore.
In the first raid, police confiscated
RM255 and various items, including a laptop computer, a hand phone, a
fax machine and seven books filled with numbers from a shop-house.
From the second shop-house, they
recovered B$85,000 (RM201,450), S$13,000 (RM30,810) and RM89,000, two
desktop computers, a laptop computer, four hand phones, four
calculators, two fixed-line telephones, one cordless phone, two fax
machines, hundreds of loose sheets of paper with numbers on them and
nine books filled with numbers. --
