SKSWood
Sdn Bhd for the first time participated in the three-day Career
Exhibition. In cooperation with its partner company, Syarikat
Kejuruteraan Sistematik Sdn Bhd (SKS), SKSWood sponsored a bus trip
yesterday for 30 Upper Sixth Form ('A' Level) students from the
Sayyidina Ali Secondary School in Kuala Belait to visit the career
exhibition.
Managing Director of SKSWood, Sandy
Campbell, underlined the company's commitment to human resource
development, particularly in giving as many job opportunities as
possible to young qualified Bruneians.
The company has been in contact with
the Sultan Bolkiah Vocational School in Seria to provide industrial
attachments for six of its students which will start in July.
"We are keen in attracting young
Bruneian graduates especially those who major in engineering and
administrative disciplines to come and work for SKSWood," he stated,
adding that since 2003 SKSWood has directly employed more than 60
Bruneians in various departments of the company. Earlier this month
two engineering graduates from the UK were recruited by SKSWood with
more Bruneian graduates to follow later in the year.
SKSWood
is a multinational Bruneian company comprising two local partners -
SKS and Petrokon Utama Sdn Bhd - and an international energy services
company, the Wood Group.
SKSWood
is contracted by Brunei Shell Petroleum Co Sdn Bhd to carry out
offshore construction and maintenance projects for a period of five
years.
