Sultan Appoints Local Envoys And
Receives Foreign Diplomats

Begawan – His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, Sultan of
Brunei, presented credentials to two Brunei envoys and received
letters of appointment from three new foreign diplomats of friendly
nations at Istana Nurul Iman yesterday.
His Majesty the Sultan of Brunei
first presented the credential to Magdelene Teo Chee Siong, the
newly-appointed High Commissioner of Brunei to Canada.
The Monarch then presented the
credential to Pengiran Dato Haji Sharifuddin bin Pengiran Haji Yusof,
the newly-appointed Ambassador of Brunei to Thailand.
His Majesty next received the letter
of appointment of the newly-appointed Ambassador of Libya to Brunei,
Dr Ahmed Ali Hanesh.
Dr Ahmed Ali Hanesh is based in Kuala
Lumpur.
The Sultan then received the letter
of appointment of the newly-appointed Ambassador of Turkey, M. Barlas
Ozener.
M. Barlas Ozener is also based in
Kuala Lumpur.
Also presenting his letter of
appointment before His Majesty was the newly-appointed non-resident
High Commissioner of Nigeria to Brunei, Dr Wahab Olasseinde Dosunmu.
Dr Wahab Olasseinde Dosunmu is based
in Kuala Lumpur too.
His Majesty then granted an audience
to the newly appointed Brunei diplomats.
Magdelene
Teo Chee Siong, 49, was previously the Deputy High Commissioner in
London from August 2003 to March 2005.
Pengiran
Dato Haji Sharifuddin, 56, started his career with His Majesty's
Government in 1977.
His Majesty also received in separate
audiences the three newly-appointed foreign envoys to the Sultanate.
The Monarch first granted an audience
to Dr Ahmed Ali Hanesh, the Ambassador of Libya.
Dr Ahmed Ali Hanesh, 63, is also his
country's Ambassador to Malaysia since 2002.
His Majesty then received in audience
M. Barlas Ozener, the Ambassador of Turkey.
M. Barlas Ozener, 60, was a former
member of the political advisory group of the Ministry of Foreign
Affairs since 2002.
The Sultan then received in audience
Dr VVahab Olasseinde Dosunmu, the High Commissioner of Nigeria.
Dr VVahab Olasseinde Dosunmu, 66, was
a senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria representing Lagos West
Senatorial District from 1999 to 2003.
Present at the separate audiences
were Pehin Dato Haji Awang Isa, His Majesty's Special Adviser at the
Prime Minister's Office and the Minister of Home Affairs; Pehin Dato
Haji Awang Mohd Ali, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs; and, Pehin
Dato Awang Haji Yahya, Permanent Secretary at the Prime Minister’s
Office.
Meanwhile, His Royal Highness Prince
Mohamed Bolkiah, Minister of Foreign Affairs, also granted separate
audiences to three newly-appointed foreign envoys to Brunei at the
Balai Penghadapan Bukit Kayangan.
His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed
Bolkiah first granted an audience to Dr Ahmad Ali Hanesh, the
Ambassador of Libya.
The Prince then received M. Barlas
Ozener, the Ambassador of Turkey.
The Prince next granted an audience
to Dr Wahab Olasseinde Dosunmu, the High Commissioner of Nigeria.
During the audiences, His Royal
Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah welcomed the new envoys and discussed
bilateral matters.
The newly-appointed envoys are all
Non-resident and are currently based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
