Fire at Kg Perpindahan Tungku was allegedly started by a group of people carrying out open burning nearby.

A bushfire broke out in Kg Rimba and burned away some 30 acres of trees and bushes.

The fire, which started at noon yesterday, took 30 firemen several hours to put out.

The firemen, along with three fire trucks, rushed to the scene after receiving a call from a resident in the area. The Public Works Department assisted the operation by providing two water tankers.

The personnel from the Fire Department also received help from residents in the area.

According to fireman from "Operasi" Berakas ASO Pg Hj Mohammad, the department had yet to establish the cause of the fire, while reminding the public not to carry out open burning due to the current hot and dry season.

Meanwhile, a fire broke out near Kg Perpindahan Tungku yesterday, around 12.45 pm.

The incident was allegedly due to open burning by a group of people near the jungle. Some three hectares of trees were destroyed as a result.
