German Luxury Ship Makes Brief
Stop In Brunei

Begawan - The German luxury cruise ship MS Europa on her
282nd trip around the world docked at the Muara Port yesterday
afternoon for several hours before continuing her cruise to Ho Chi
Minh City and Hong Kong.
Present to greet the visitors
including Hagen Damaschke, the captain of MS Europa, and Senator
Datuk Dr Helmut Baur, Honorary Consul General of Malaysia in
Germany, and his wife upon their arrival at the Muara Port were Mr
Conrad Cappell, the German Ambassador to Brunei, and his wife and
Nigel D. Moore, the Empire Hotel and Country Club's Food and
Beverage Manager.
Sponsored by the Tourism Board
Department, the cultural group from Kampong Sungai Kelugos and
Kampong Kulapis was also present to welcome the MS Europa
passengers.
Some of the 200 passengers went on
a sightseeing tour to some of the major attractions in the Sultanate
such as Kampong Ayer, the Royal Regalia, Istana Nurul Iman and the
Jame' Asr Hassanil Bolkiah Mosque.
The brief tour of the capital was
organised by Freme Travel Services Sdn Bhd.
Those who did not join the tour
went to the Empire Hotel and Country Club for tea.
Before joining the German
ambassador and his wife for tea at the Empire Hotel, Captain Hagen
Damaschke brought the ambassador and his wife for a tour of the
ship.
He showed them the ship's bridge
and lobby and one of its popular restaurants, the Oriental
Restaurant, as well as briefed them on the ship's capabilities.
MS Europa, owned by Hapag Llyod, is
the only cruise ship in the world, which has been decorated with a
"five star plus" rating by Berlitz Cruise Guide. --
