Baiduri Host CNY Dinner

Begawan - Baiduri Bank hosted a Chinese New Year feast for its
customers and business partners at the Centrepoint Hotel in Gadong
recently.
The event was attended by more than
750 invited guests and was organised to show the bank's appreciation
to its valued customers and partners.
"Several major accomplishments have
been achieved in 2004 including the opening of two new branches at
Tutong and The Mall in Gadong with the latter being an innovative
concept propelled by strong commitment to enhance customer service and
relocation of Baiduri Card Centre to a new premise," General Manager
of Baiduri Bank Mr Pierre Imhof said during his welcoming address.
"Other major achievements include the
successful launch of new products including the Baiduri Ladies card,
Home Ownership loan, Home Refinancing loan and Home Equity loan as
well as special promotions such as the 101h Anniversary Savings
Account Promotion and Credit Card Balance Transfer Programme.
"Other than that Baiduri Bank was
awarded Bank of the Year Brunei by The Banker magazine, Financial
Times Business, UK for the third consecutive year.
To commemorate the bank's outstanding
performance, the bank also received a Bracken Award from the
internationally renowned publication.
"Having celebrated its 10`h
anniversary in 2004, Baiduri Bank is well-poised for a new decade of
excellence with major investment in a new core banking system, new
corporate visions as encapsulated in its newly launched branding
campaign `It's a great big world' and a staff strength of more than
300."
Touching on the future ambitious
growth of Baiduri Bank, Mr Pierre Imhof said: "We have acquired the
prestigious American Express franchise in Brunei and have just
launched the first Baiduri American Express Credit Card. We are now
the only bank in Brunei issuing three major credit card brands namely
Visa, Mastercard and American Express.
"Alongside development in card
business, there are also plans to continually expand the bank's
network of branches and ATMs to meet the needs of customers. The bank
will place greater emphasis on wealth management products and services
with aggressive plans in the pipeline."
The General Manager of Baiduri Bank
expressed his confidence in the global economic environment in 2005
citing the relatively high growth rate of Asian economies, favourable
oil and gas prices as well as the launch of national development
projects by His Majesty's Government to boost the domestic economy and
spur the growth of SMEs.
Concluding his speech, Mr Pierre
Imhof said that with the core strength of innovation, dynamism,
financial solidity and skilled human resources, the bank will continue
to excel in the highly competitive environment bringing exceptional
benefits and high quality services to its customers.
The highlight of the Chinese New Year
celebration was the presentation of financial assistance to
underprivileged students from Chung Hwa Middle School (BSB), St
Andrew's School and St George's School.
The contributions were presented by
Mr Pierre Imhof with Mdm Kho Guik Lan, the principal of CAMS, Mr Jacob
Chin, the principal of St Andrew's School and Mr Gerald Sim Poh Ann,
the principal of St George's School.
Guests were treated to a series of
lively performances and comedy skits from both local and overseas
talents.
The show began with two Chinese
traditional dances performed by the children of Chung Hwa Middle
School's kindergarten section. The guests were enthralled by the
lively performances by Mediacorp artiste Irene Ang who is better known
as Mrs Rosie Phua from the Singapore sitcom series "Phua Chu Kang".
The role had also earned her the best female comedian award at the
Asia Television Awards.
Equally captivating was performance
by Mark Lee, the famous comedian-actor from Singapore who starred in a
number of popular movies namely `Money No Enough', 'Liang Po Po', `I
Not Stupid', `Best Bet' and `I Do I Do'. --
