Ministry Inks E-Communication Accord

Bandar Seri Begawan – An agreement was signed yesterday between the Ministry of Communication and the Integrated Communication Sendirian Berhad on the more than $10.6 million 'e-MinCom Portal Services' which will provide online service to the public.

The project is in line with the effort to realise Brunei’s vision to be the Service Hub For Trade and Tourism (ShuTT) with its mission to link Brunei with the global community through transportation and Info-Communication System.

Signing on behalf of the government of His Majesty Sultan of Brunei was Pehin Dato Awang Haji Abdullah, Permanent Secretary Ministry of Communication, while the Integrated Communication Sendirian Berhad was represented by Pengiran Haji Mohd Zain bin Pengiran Haji Damit, Managing Director of DST Group.

Witnessing the signing was Pehin Dato Awang Haji Zakaria, Minister of Communication.

The project will take six months to be completed.

It will provide infrastructure services for the development of an integrated network of the Ministry of Communication and departments under it and to promote and encourage the public to use the service electronically.

Apart from these, it also aims at encouraging government officers to keep abreast with the latest development in the Information Technology in line with the changes in the government's policies.

Also present at the function were senior government officials.
