UBD Malay Literature Dept Head To
Attend Seminar In Kuala Lumpur

Begawan - Dr Hj Morsidi Hi Muhammad from Universiti Brunei
Darussalam (UBD) will join literature experts from Malaysia,
Indonesia, Singapore and Thailand in presenting a working paper at a
literature seminar to be held in Kuala Lumpur from March 22 to 24.
Entitled `Seminar Teori dan Kritikan
Sastera Melayu Serantau II' (The 211 Regional Theory and Critics of
Malay Literature), Hj Morsidi who is the head of Malay Literature
Department, Faculty of Arts and Social Science, UBD will present 'Kritikan
Sajak di Negara Brunei Darussalam: Perkembangan Masa Depan' (Poem
Critics in Brunei: Future Development).
Other working paper presenters
include two Indonesians, Dr Rachmat Djoko Pradopo ('Kritik Sastera
Indonesia Moden'), and Dr Faruk HT ('Kisah Penjara Etis dan Filosof s:
Analisis Lintas BudayaAtas Tembok Tidak Tinggi by A Samad Ismail dan
Mereka Yang Dilumpuhkan by Pramoedya Ananta Toer').
Two Singaporeans, Prof Madya Dr Abdul
Rahman Napiah will deliver `Teori dan Kritikan Sastera Singapura:
Penghadiran dan Pengukuhannya' while Azhar Ibrahim will deliver `Teori
Sastera dan Dogmatisisme'.
A literature expert from Thailand,
Abdulroya Panaemalae, will present a working paper titled "Meneliti
Kemungkinan-Kemungkinan Penerapan Teori Takmilah dalam Puisi Melayu
Moden di Selatan Thailand'.
Malaysia will have its national
laureates or Sasterawan Negara (SN), Prof Dr Muhamad Salleh, who will
talk about 'Khalayak di Serambi Pentas', while Prof Madya Dr Sahlan
Mohd Saman ('Industri Teori: Proses Pembinaan Sastera Kebangsaan dan
Serantau'), Datuk Prof Dr Mohd Yusof Hassan ('Teori Kritikan Pemikiran
dalam Karya Fiksyen Shahnon Ahmad') and Jeniri Amir ('Novel Politik:
Antara Konflik dan Penyelewengan') will also deliver their views.
The seminar, organised by Literature
Theory and Critics Section, Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka Kuala Lumpur, is
aimed at grouping literature graduates and experts from five countries
under one roof to discuss about the theory and critical aspects of
literature to spur growth in Malay literature. --
