AF's next tour in Miri
By Rosli Abidin Yahya
Bandar Seri
Begawan - Local fans of Astro entertainment programme Akademi
Fantasia are expected to cross the border in large numbers to see
their idols perform in Boulevard Shopping Complex, Miri, Sarawak, on
March 24.
Tickets to watch the Miri performance
are by redemption of passes with the purchase of EVO04 series CD
albums or by purchasing RM 10 (B$5) tickets.
Hotlink subscribers can purchase the
tickets at a further 20 per cent discount and entrance is free for
children below the age off 2.
In conjunction with the tour,
organisers said the main sponsors in Flotlink and Coca Cola, as well
as Astro and Era.FM will be collecting funds for Aceh orphans affected
by the tsunami disaster.
An SMS line will be open where fans
can do their part by donating RM5 by justtexting DERMA to 39988.
The Miri performance will be the
second last for the current AF students before the finale tour at
Stadium Putra, Bukit Jalil (April 2), which will be carried live
overAstro's Ria channel.
The finale will also mark the end of
the reign for current artistes before the commencement of the next
batch of students which was supposed to feature Bruneians but in the
end it was told that no locals will participate in the programme this
year.
Last Feb 9, Brunei fans filled up
half the conference hall of Ujana Financial Centre in Labuan to watch
the concert of six artistes of Akademi Fantasia 2, a part reality TV
part talent search show that storned the nation over the past two
years.
This time it is expected the locals
will again throng Miri in large numbers with tickets only costing less
than B$5 each.
It is obvious that the following for
the most popular reality television talent search is showing no sign
of letting up.
With no or minimal fee charged for
entry, the tour is more of an opportunity for fans to see their idols
fi-orn the last two years of Akademi Fantasia: 6 top finalists of AF2,
three others from the same batch and three "seniors" from AF 1.
The tour is definitely one of the
highlights of the local entertainment calendars - not just for the
excitement of seeing the kids performing together but also to
emphasise the success of the nation's most popular talent search.
Even if the local fans missed the
Miri date, they will still manage to see the concert which will be
telecast live on Astro's Ria channel from Stadium Putra, Bukit Jalil
on April 2. --
