PERTIWI Turns Over $13,000 To Tsunami Fund

Bandar Seri Begawan - More cash donations poured into the Yayasan Initiative Fund For Tsunami Victim in Aceh yesterday.

Heading the list with a $13,630.55 donation was PERTIWI a long established women's association in the Sultanate.

According to a committee member, the donations are proceeds from the 'Berzikir' activity conducted during the recent Hari Raya Aidil Adha as well as collections from PERTIWI members.

Following on the list are donations from spouses of Cabinet Ministers, Deputy Ministers, Private and Confidential Secretary to His Majesty, Permanent Secretaries and Deputy Pennanent Secretaries.

Another contribution came from the Brunei Darussalam Girl Guides Association, who raised $5,000 during their recent charity bazaar held in Berakas.

On hand to receive the donations was Pehin Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Hj Awg Badaruddin Pengarah Dato Paduka Hj Othman, Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Foundation Chairman.

Presenting the donation on behalf of the many generous spouses was Datin Seri Utama Hjh Rosnah Abdullah, wife of the Minister of Home Affairs.

PERTIWI President Datin Paduka Dyg Hjh Jusnani Hj Lawie handed over the donations on behalf of the association, while the Brunei Darussalam Girl Guides Association was represented by Dyg Hjh Siti Hafsah Hj Abdul Halim, in her capacity as Chief Commissioner of the Association.

Present to witness the presentations at the foundation's complex in the capital were Pehin Dato Paduka Hj Abd Ghani Pehin Dato Paduka Hj Abd Rahim, the foundation's Managing Director; Dato Paduka Hj Zakaria Hj Jeneh, Assistant Managing Director; and, several officers. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
