Brunei Impresses Malaysian Star
By Rosli Abidin Yahya
Bandar Seri
Begawan - Renowned Malaysian actor Zamarul Hisham is looking
forward to more acting stints in Brunei following his recent visit
here.
The 31-year-old actor said he was
impressed with the Sultanate as well as the people he had met during
his stay.
"I love this country so much that I
hope to come back in the future to act again," he told the Bulletin
last Thursday at Food Zone in Gadong.
Zamarul
was here for the launch of the Anti-Corruption Bureau drama serials,
which will be held at The Mall in Gadong today.
However, he said he has not met any
drama producers, especially those from the private sector.
"I was so busy acting that I did not
have time to meet any drama producers. But, as I said earlier, I am
looking forward to act here," he said.
Talking about the serials, Zamarul
said he was particularly impressed with the production team from the
Sultanate.
"There were only three Malaysians in
the production team but it was the keenness of the locals that allowed
the project to be completed in just three weeks, which is very fast
even by Malaysian standards.
"I have never worked in a team that
was so efficient, competent and well-organised. Mind you, the local
production team as well as local actors are not full-time players of
the drama industry," he said.
Zamarul
said local actors are humble, show high interest in acting and love to
ask questions to contribute to the overall efficiency of the team.
"Local veteran artistes who have
acted with local production houses and Radio Television Brunei were
just superb," he added.
"On my return to KL on Monday, I will
be acting in a 50-series drama produced by Rosnani Jamil. I will also
be acting in a new film - Potret Mistik - with Erra Fazira. But I can
assure you that Brunei will be on my mind forever," he said.
His word of advice to aspiring actors
is for them to strengthen and continue acting because "you all have
talents in acting otherwise you would not be interested in this
industry," he said.
Zamarul
said he had been here once before to attend the launch of Misteri
Sebuah Potret, a Malaysian film that he starred in, which was held at
the JPCC Amphitheatre in Jerudong. --
