Agricultural Advances Showcased At
Agro-Food Fair

Begawan – The "Brunei Agri-Food 2005 showcases recent advances
in the agricultural production and agro-food processing industry in
the country, which involves crop and livestock products.
Organised
by the Ministry of Industry and Primary Resources, it has a number of
activities to attract residents to the Brunei-Agri Food 2005.
Agriculture enthusiasts will be
treated to a wide array of flowers, including orchids and
bougainvillea.
A number of booths are selling cacti.
These plants are especially popular due to their ease of care.
Members of the public can choose from
a wide range of fruit trees, from rambutans to longans and durian
trees.
Earlier yesterday, visitors at the
Brunei-Agri Food, especially the younger ones were interested in the
livestock pens. They were particularly attracted to a two-year-old
camel named "Rover".
Visitors will also have the chance to
see an ostrich. Ostrich meat is becoming increasingly popular among
Bruneians.
An adult male ostrich can grow up to
8 feet tall and weigh as much as 200 kilogrammes.
Indeed, a wide range of activities
have been arranged for the agricultural fair at the Wasan Rice Project
in Limau Manis.
Brunei Agri-Food 2005 will continue
until March 13, opening from 8am till 6pm. --
