Bandar Seri Begawan - More than 20 bikers from the Darussalam Motorcycle Association (PEMODA) will make an expedition from Brunei to Pontianak, Kalimantan in Indonesia.

The President of PEMODA, Haji Abu Bakar Haji Mohd Asrad said the eight-day expedition from March 21 to 28 will be part of the PEMODA's annual activity.

He said the long journey from Brunei would pass via Miri, Sibu and Kuching.

It will commence from Jerudong Park. This journey aims to strengthen closer ties with the other motorcycle clubs in the region and at the same time exchange new ideas and experiences.

In addition, it is also an exchange visit among the clubs and an opportunity to promote and boost the country's tourism industry.

Hariel Haji Simpol, PEMODA Relation Secretary, said the team is expected to leave Kuching to Pontianak on March 24.

The team will join the Victoria Arm Club Kuching in a convoy to Pontianak.

PEMODA will also be welcoming a Motorcycle Club from Jakarta, Indonesia that is expected to arrive in the country on March 16.

Meanwhile, some 30 motorcycle riders from the "Harley Owners Group" comprising corporate members are expected to also gather in the country.

The group is on the "Chapter Pesona Lintas Khatulistiwa tour" to Brunei and is expected to stay at Centrepoint Hotel in Gadong.

They will arrive in Sabah and will drive through Limbang, Brunei, Miri, and Kuching and end their journey at Pontianak.

PEMODA will continue to hold the "Tsunami Charity Fund and Motorshow" in the Temburong District on March 6, as part of the association's humanitarian deed to raise fund to help the tsunami victims.
