Tsunami Fund Receives Over $81,000
From Donors

Begawan - Two months have passed since killer tidal waves
struck the region killing hundreds of thousands but donations
continue to pour into the Brunei Darussalam Tsunami Disaster Relief
Fund.
The aid collected will be used in
the rebuilding process for survivors in the affected areas.
Yesterday afternoon, another big
contribution of $81,856 from ministries, private agencies and
associations was received by the Fund at a ceremony held at the
premises of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.
On hand to receive the contribution
was Pehin Dato Seri Paduka (Dr) Haji Awang Hussain bin Pehin Dato
Laila Utama Haji Awang Mohd Yusof, the Minister of Culture, Youth
and Sports cum co-advisor of the Tsunami Disaster Relief Fund's
committee.
Royal Brunei Airlines was the main
contributor with a total of $63,731.
Pehin Dato Paduka Awang Haji Hazair
bin Haji Abdullah, Chairman of RBA, presented the mock cheque on
behalf of RBA to the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports.
The contribution was collected from
the RBA Golf Charity Tournament, proceeds from online ticket sales,
of which BSM contributed $5,000, and RBA staff donations.
The second contribution of $13,125
came from the Ministry of Development and departments under it.
Handing over the contribution on
behalf of the ministry was Awang Haji Metassan bin Haji Mohd Daud,
Permanent Secretary of Administration and Finance at the Ministry of
Development.
Persatuan
TIBA contributed $3,000, which was presented by Zini Hj Dullah, the
Secretary-General of the association.
Also making a donation was Mamih
Cafe, which contributed $2,000 to the fund.
Presenting the contribution on
behalf of the cafe was Awang Mohd Bahrin bin Pehin Dato Paduka Haji
Mohd Tahir, Assistant General Manager of Mamih Cafe.
Pehin
Dato Seri Paduka (Dr) Haji Awang Hussain conveyed his heartfelt
appreciation and thanks to all the contributors.
He added to date, cash
contributions for the Tsunami Disaster Relief Fund have reached
around $2.6 million.--
