By Achong Tanjong

Bandar Seri Begawan - Mr Yusbar Djamii, Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Brunei, paid a two-day working visit to Temburong recently to meet with the Indonesian community in the district.

The trip was aimed at meeting with the Indonesian community members in Temburong who wished to express their sympathy and make donations to alleviate the sufferings of the tsunami victims in Aceh and North Sumatra.

The ambassador was accompanied by his wife, Ibu Praptiningsih Yusbar, and senior personnel at the Indonesian Embassy.

More than 100 Indonesians attended the meeting at Sekolah Persediaan Arab Pekan Bangar Temburong, where Indonesian geologists Bambang Gumilar and Herman Darman, who work at Brunei Shell Petroleum Company in Seria, gave a presentation on the earthquake and tsunami that devastated Aceh and North Sumatra on December 26, 2004.

The ambassador also paid a courtesy call to Awg Syahminan bin Haji Tengah, Acting Temburong District Officer, during which he applauded His Majesty for being the first head of state to visit tsunami-hit Aceh early this month.

He also expressed his gratitude to the Sultan and the people of Brunei for providing emergency relief to Indonesia as well as committing themselves to the upcoming process of rehabilitation and reconstruction. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
