Bandar Seri Begawan – His Royal Highness Crown Prince Haji Al-Muthadee Billah has expressed happiness at local efforts to raise funds and other forms of assistance for the tsunami victims.

All these, the Crown Prince pointed out, demonstrated noble characteristics of the Brunei people which should be upheld.

His Royal Highness made the remark yesterday afternoon at a doa selamat and appreciation ceremony for volunteers and donors of the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Foundation Initiative Humanitarian Relief Fund for Tsunami Victims in Aceh.

The Crown Prince was greeted upon arrival at the International Convention Centre in Berakas by Pehin Dato Haji Awang Abdul Aziz, Minister of Education and Chairman of the Yayasan Administrative Board, and Pehin Dato Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin, Chairman of the Foundation's Board of Directors.

To all those concerned residents of the Sultanate, His Royal Highness expressed his appreciation and gratitude.

The Crown Prince then presented the appreciation certificates to 356 volunteers, of whom 78 were directly involved with the humanitarian mission in Aceh.

The volunteers consisted of the Armed Forces personnel as well as the medical officers from the Ministry of Health.

Several members of the media also received their appreciation certificates for their role in bringing to Brunei the pictures and stories of the country’s humanitarian mission in Aceh.
