"Together with Sky Show and the new Sky Lounge at Brunei International
Airport, we are now in a position to offer our customer a truly superb
travel experience," said RBA chief executive officer Peter Foster.
Bandar Seri
Begawan - Royal Brunei Airlines, the Sultanate’s national
carrier, unveiled its new Business and Economy Class yesterday
morning.
Dato
Paduka Awang Haji Hazair, Permanent Secretary at the Prime Minister's
office and RBA chairman, witnessed and experienced the new
development.
The retrofit, which was announced
last year under the 10-year strategic plan, is aimed to increase the
level of comfort and service offered to passengers travelling on Royal
Brunei Airlines.
With these new products, RBA now
offers state-of-the-art entertainment and seating comfort. This will
enable the airline to attract even greater number of passengers in
both premium and economy cabins.
In the new business class, Sky
Executive Class, passengers will enjoy the newly-installed 'Sky
Dreamer' Seats. These seats offer 75 inches of comfort when fully
reclined and become almost horizontal. Sky Dreamer seats also provide
maximum privacy with their pod-shaped design and privacy screen.
For business travellers, the Sky
Dreamer comes equipped with in-seat power connector and personal
reading lights. There is also a 10.4 inch personal TV screen for each
passenger in Sky Executive Class.
Economy class also underwent a
facelift. The new seats come with a 'winglet headress' and foot rests.
Also available is an 8.4 inch personal TV screen, among one of the
largest offered in Economy Class in the world, offering Skyshow.
For the first time ever on Royal
Brunei Airlines, passengers in both Sky Executive Class as well as
Economy Class can now rewind, fast forward, pause or choose a movie of
their choice on the new entertainment system installed.
The latest Thales i-4000 series
personal in-flight entertainment system or 'Sky Show' as RBA calls it
offers 17 video-on-demand selections, 5 broadcast video channels, 10
games, 12 CD albums-on-demand and 15 channels of continuous audio
entertainment in a variety of languages.
The new Boeing 767 300 Series will
accommodate 23 passengers in its Business Class or Sky Executive Class
as it is now called, along with 182 Economy Class passengers.
The airline will deploy the newly
retrofitted aircraft on its long haul routes such as those in Europe
and Australia, with its first flight to Frankfurt sometime next week.
Three other Boeing 767s will also be
upgraded to ensure that passengers on long haul flights will have a
wider selection of entertainment and the ultimate in comfort.
