His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee
Billah, the Crown Prince today continued the third day of the
official visit programme to New Zealand, RTB reported.
Early yesterday morning, HRH
left Wellington for Dunedin. Before departing, a doa was read by
Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Khtaib Awang Haji Mat Jaya bin Haji
Ibrahim.
Present at the Dunedin Airport
to welcome HRH was Mr David Benson-Pope, a member of the
parliament for Dunedin South representing the government of New
Zealand.
HRH the Crown Prince began the
trip to Dunedin by visiting the University of Otago.
Upon arrival, HRH was met by Dr
Ian Smith, the deputy vice chancellor, Professor John Campbell,
dean of the School of Medicine, and several senior staff members
of the university.
HRH met with the senior staff
members of the university, followed by a tour around the
Information Services building, where HRH was able to closely
examine the services provided to the university students.
Afterwards, HRH was led to the
Human Performance Centre where HRH explored the equipment used
to carry out scientific research on water and sports medicine;
the equipment are the only ones available in the southern
hemisphere.
HRH later attended a luncheon
hosted by the deputy vice chancellor. Also present were senior
academic staff members and Bruneian students studying medicine
and dentistry at the university.
HRH's final destination in
Dunedin was the Natural History New Zealand Limited, a company
that produces documentaries on culture and wildlife. On arrival,
HRH was welcomed by Mr Michael Stedman, the managing director
and Mr John Crawford, the general manager of the company.
At the Natural History New
Zealand Limited, HRH viewed several documentaries, before
touring various departments. (The company is the second largest
contributor of documentaries aired by Discovery Channel.)
HRH the Crown Prince was
accompanied by Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Muda Abdul Qawi. Also in
the Crown Prince's company were Brunei's non-resident High
Commissioner to New Zealand, Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Dewa Dato
Seri Paduka Lim Jock Seng, and the Permanent Secretary at the
Prime Minister's Office Pengiran Haji Abdul Hamid bin Pengiran
Haji Mohamad Yassin.
