Maria Breaks Two National Records

Begawan - Maria Grace Koh continued her dominance in swimming
when she shattered two national records in the 8th Pesta Sukan
Kebangsaan yesterday.
Maria, a student from 315
representing Brunei-Muara district broke the girl's 200m fly and
200m backstroke records.
Maria broke Lisa Chan's record of
3.04.15 set in 1999 with a new record time 2.39.86 in the 200m fly.
Second was Felicia Lee Li Em of
Brunei-Muara (3.06.80) and third was Rachel Glover of RBA (3.18.80).
In the 200m backstroke Maria broke
her own national record of 2.44.53 set in 2006 in Makassar with a
new national record of 2.44.21.
Second was Felicia Li Em of Brunei-Muara
followed by Rachel Glover of RBA. In addition to the two gold
medals, Maria also took gold in the girl's 100m breaststroke with a
time of 1.25.57 and the girl's 400m freestyle relay. Second in the
girl's 100m breaststroke was Lim Jia Xia of RBA and third was
Courtney Poweell also of RBA.
Thus far, Maria has bagged eight
gold medals and broke five age group records and two national open
records since the swimming events started on Friday.
In other results, Siu Kent Chung of
Brunei-Muara district won gold in the boy's 400m freestyle with a
time of 4.53.02. The silver medal went to Callistus Tan of RBA with
a time of 5.09.20 while Asreel Hj Ahad of Temburong won the bronze
with a time of 5.16.20.
Felicia Lee Li Ern of Brunei-Muara
district won the girl's 400m freestyle gold with a time of 5.16.54
followed by Belait's Rohemah H Mohd Salim (6.04.86) and her team
mate Sulia Hj Mohd Salim (6.09.43).
For the boy's 200m fly, Siu Kent
Chung of Brunei-Muara district won the gold medal with a time of
2.37.33. Azmi Abd Hadzid also from Brunei-Muara (2.42.36) took
silver and Nicholas Young of RBA (2.56.88) the bronze medal.
Kent Chung won another gold for
BruneiMuara- District with a time of 1.20.57 in the boy's 100m
breaststroke while his compatriot Azmi Abd Hadzid was second
followed by Asreel Hj Ahad of Temburong.
Brunei-Muara's Kent Chung took his
fourth gold medal of the day when he outpaced the rest of the field
with a time of 2.32.68 in the 200m backstroke. The silver went to
Asreel Hj Ahad of Temburong with a time of 2.48.28 and Adrian Lim
Dian Yang of Brunei-Muara took bronze with a time of 2.52.01.
Brunei-Muara continued their
domination when they clinched the gold medal in the boy's 400
freestyle team event. In second place was RBA followed by Sports
School Council.
In the girl's 400m freestyle team
relay, Brunei-Muara took gold with a time of 4.45.99 while silver
