Pilihan-Akira Talentime 2008 Signing Ceremony At RTB Headquarters

Bandar Seri Begawan - The official signing ceremony for the highly anticipated Pilihan-Akira Talentime 2008 (PAT2008) was held yesterday at the Radio Televisyen Brunei (RTB) headquarters in the capital.

The upcoming contest is scheduled to be held at the Jerudong Park and Country Club (JPCC) Amphitheatre and will see 10 contestants compete in two categories — Bruneian and non-Bruneian.

The finals that will be held on Saturday, July 5, are expected to be officiated by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Pg Abd Haris Pg Hj Shabudin.

The non-Bruneian category is being organised this year in line with Pilihan FM's target audience, which is catered to non-Bruneians as well.

PAT2008 will be broadcasted live at 8pm on Radio Brunei Pilihan FM and internationally through NetRadio on www.rth.gov.bn with a delayed telecast on RTB2.

Signing on behalf of RTB was Acting Director Hj Osman Hj Mohammad and on behalf of lntracorp Sdn Bhd was Assistant General Manager, Charles Lee.

For the seventh year, following its revival in 2002, Intracorp — the sole distributor of Akira products and PAT2008's main sponsor— has provided the much-needed support the project needs.

This year, the project will also have the support of the newly introduced Intracorp Furniture and Electrical Centre featuring the Castilla, The White and Novena furniture brands.

Yesterday's signing ceremony also saw Confirmation Certificates being presented to the sponsors of the event.

The Rizqun International Hotel confirmed its support for the contest as the official accommodator for PAT2008 guest artiste Hady Mirza, the first Asian Idol back in 2007 and Singapore Idol in 2006.

NeoClassic Music School will be providing the contestants with vocal training, while Le Swan Studio is providing them with performance training.

Jen Studio provided the glamour shots, and Inspiration Alan Salon for the hair and make-up.

Other organisations in support of the project included Processta Printing and Trading Co, Air Cat Forwarding, City Neon Displays and Construction, Era Hartawan Enterprise, Baiduri Bank Berhad, Laneige, Borneo Bulletin and anakbrunei.org.

As the only singing contest organised by RTB that is in English, PAT2008 aims to scout and promote local talents through singing in English. Popular back in the late 60's, throughout the 70's and 80's, the contest made its comeback in 2002 in conjunction with the Sapphire Jubilee or the 45th anniversary of Radio Brunei, which was established back in May 1957. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
