Working To Refine Counselling Skills

Bandar Seri Begawan - Teachers and group coordinators from vocational and technical institutions yesterday turned up for the first of a four-day workshop focusing on counselling skills, which is currently being held at the Civil Service Institute in Rimba.

Scheduled to run until June 5, the workshop is organised by the Department of Human Resource Development with cooperation from the Technical Education Department Student Welfare Unit of the Ministry of Education.

Facilitating the workshop are Haji Ali Yusri Haji Ghafor, Pg Hj Md Yassin bin Pg Hj Mahmud and Hajah Roslin bin PDISDSLJ Haji Johari, all of whom are from the Counselling and Career Guidance Unit of the Ministry of Education.

A special talk on `Counselling from Islam Perspective' will also be delivered by invited speaker Ustaz Haji Mail bin Haji Besar.

The first day of the workshop saw participants listening to a talk delivered by Hj Ali Yusri bin Hj Ghafor, who highlighted the importance of self-evaluation.

According to Human Resource Development Department Senior Education Officer Hajah Nimah bte Hj Ahad, the objective of the workshop is to strengthen participants' knowledge on the understanding of counselling from an Islamic perspective.
