$1,000 Cheque For Robot Challenge

Begawan - A cheque presentation for the upcoming 6" ABU Asia
Pacific Robot Contest 2007 (ABU Robocon) was yesterday witnessed at
the Radio Televisyen Brunei (RTB) Bilik Iltizam.
On hand to present the mock USD1,
000 cheque to Project Supervisor Norjemee Jenek was RTB Acting
Deputy Director Haji Hamiddon bin Haji Ibrahim.
The 6th, ABU Asia Pacific Robot
Contest 2007 (ABU Robocon) will be held in Hanoi, Vietnam from
August 24 - 29.

- as a member of the Asia Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) and in
cooperation with STEP Centre, Ministry of Education - will, for the
fifth time participate in the ABU Asia Pacific Robot Contest, which
is organised by the Asia Pacific Broadcasting Union.
Brunei Darussalam will be
represented by the Jefri Bolkiah Engineering College in the
competition, which will be held at the Quan Ngua Sports Palace,
Hanoi.
Jefri
Bolkiah Engineering College received the cheque as subsidiary money
for the making of the robot for the competition.
This is the fifth time Jefri
Bolkiah Engineering College will be making an appearance at the ABU
Robocon competition (international. level). They were champions four
times in a row during the national competition, from 2003-2006.
In 2005, Jefri Bolkiah Engineering
College received the Toyota Awards at the competition which was held
in Beijing, China.
The ABU Robocon competition
requires participants to use their creativity and knowledge on
technology to invent robots. The event also aims to allow for the
strengthening of relations between Asia Pacific youths who have
shared interests.
As many as 19 teams from 18
