JIS Exhibition Displays Students'
Talents
By P Marilyn
Bandar Seri
Begawan - Jerudong International School (JIS) is hosting an
art and design technology exhibition that was officially opened last
night at the Empire Hotel and Country Club.
The exhibition features a variety
of work; such as paintings, prints, drawings, ceramic pieces and
three-dimensional designs, contributed by JIS students from the
Faculty of Art and Design and the Faculty of Design and Technology,
ranging from the ages of five to 18.
Present as the guest of honour to
officiate the event was the Ambassador of the United States of
America to Brunei, Mr Emit Skodon.
This is the seventh annual art and
design technology exhibition held by the school, the largest yet in
the history of JIS with over 100 works on display.
Students, parents, teachers and
dignitaries viewing the exhibition were highly impressed by the
talents of the students.
The exhibition also saw JIS Year 10
students from the Food Technology faculty preparing treats for the
visitors.
Mr
Justin Harris, Head of Design and Technology at JIS, spoke on the
exhibits, which celebrate the achievements of some of the young
artists and designers at JIS.
He highlighted that the exhibition
was the culmination of many months of hard work by the students.
Meanwhile, Mr Skodon applauded the
students for their creativity and talent. Fourteen-year old Maria
Grace Koh, whose oil painting titled "Night Fever" is one of those
selected to be displayed during the exhibition, told the Bulletin
that she was inspired to do the painting due to her passion for
dancing.
She has always had an interest in
design since her childhood and would like to immerse herself in the
performing arts or fashion design when she completes her studies.
Members of the public who wish to
view the exhibition can visit the Empire Hotel and Country Club at
Level 1, Main Atrium. The exhibition will be on until June 28. -- Courtesy of Borneo
