Livewire Lauches Cooperative In Temburong

Bangar – LiveWIRE Brunei yesterday launched a prawn and fish cooperative in Temburong to encourage the growth of entrepreneurism among the youth.

It initiated the foundation of Koperasi Bersatu Ternakan Udang and Ikan Tropika Berhad of Temburong, a business programme under the social investment agenda of Brunei Shell Petroleum Company Sdn Bhd (BSP).

The cooperative was launched by Awang-Haji Matusin bin OKS Haji Tuba, Temburong Assistant District Officer, at Dewan Kompleks Utama Bumi Putera, Bangar in Temburong District.

This cooperative will focus on aquaculture farming of shrimps and various species of fishes in Temburong, which will cater to, the Bruneian market and to be exported as Brunei products overseas.

The aquaculture farm is located at Kampong Selangan covering 200 acres.

The cooperative has 160 members.

The initiation of this cooperative serves as important cornerstone to the entrepreneurial development in Temburong and LiveWIRE Brunei, as well as BSP's continuous community development initiatives.

With particular interest from the community of the Kampong Selangan area, the initiative of this project has been made in response towards the youth in the, Temburong District. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
