$93,587 In Donation For Katrina Victims

Bandar Seri Begawan - A donation of $93,587.60, collected for the Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund, was yesterday handed over to US Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam Mr Emit Skodon at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.

On hand to present the donation to the ambassador was Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Pehin Major General (Rtd) Dato Awang Haji Mohammad bin Haji Daud.

The Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund was established on September 13, 2005 with the aim ofcollecting contributions from the people of Brunei to help alleviate sufferings faced by Katrina victims.

The fund has been managing the task of collecting donations from ministries, government agencies, schools, organisations, private companies and individuals in the country.

Meanwhile, the committee for Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund thanked contributors for their generosity.  -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
