Local Entomologist On Study Trip To Japan

Bandar Seri Begawan - In efforts to learn more on the various species of insects in the local rainforests, Awang Tuah Atar, an assistant entomologist from the Department of Museum has left Brunei recently for a one-month study trip to Japan.

Awang Tuah Atar will be studying entomology in University of Kagoshima, Japan and his studies will concentrate mainly on ants species.

With a passion for entomology since a tender age, Awang Tuah Atar started collecting insect species as a hobby, which later has turned into his career.

During the trip, Awang Tuah Atar also brought with him 500 bile of 2,000 ants species from the local rainforests of Belait and Tutong District to be examined and categorised. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
