Baiduri Bank Revels In Regional
Award
By CT Hj Mahmod
Bandar Seri
Begawan - Baiduri Bank was a joint winner in the Marketing, PR
or Brand Management Project category of the Asian Banking Awards 2005
for `It's a Great Big World' brand campaign.
Brunei's lone local bank's entry was
among 118 entries from 48 banks in 16 countries competing in the same
category.
"As this is a regional award, we were
competing with some of the best financial institutions in Asia
Pacific. This is a major achievement for a relatively young bank with
slightly more than 10 years in operation," said Pierre Imhof, Baiduri
Bank General Manager.
"Our brand promise is a constant
reminder of our aspiration to deliver superior value to our customers
and shareholders. It is the driving force in our pursuit of
excellence," he said.
Philippine Finance Undersecretary
Roberto Tan recently presented the award during the Asia Pacific
Bankers Congress in Manila to Mr. Ti Eng Hui, Deputy General Manager
of Baiduri Bank for Retail Banking and Branch Network.
Baiduri
Bank was the only winner from Brunei during the awards night. Other
winning banks from the region were OCBC Singapore, The International
Commercial Bank of China (ICBC), Siam Commercial Bank and Planters
Development Bank in the Philippines.
The `It's a Great Big World' campaign
launched July 2004 showcases Baiduri Bank's new corporate identity:
the dynamic, internationally recognised award-winning bank that is
truly local.
The award underscores the bank's
strong commitment and aspiration to deliver world-class financial
products and services to Bruneians, to help them make the most of
their world at different stages of life's cycle.
Meanwhile, Mr. Imhof spoke to the
Weekend Bulletin on customers' security issues particularly in the
wake of credit card fraud reportedly on the rise. He gave his
assurance that none of the bank's clients have been victimised.
Security is one of the bank's
priorities, with a special taskforce to address these issues, and a
state-of-art Information Technology security features that ensure a
banking environment that is as safe as possible, he said.
We have put a lot of efforts in the
security of customers, as credit card fraud is the most sophisticated
and dangerous type of commercial crimes that exist, he said.
"This is a very serious issue and we
cannot afford to not take seriously all these security issues, he
added.
Mr. Imhof believes "cooperation with
law enforcement is key in fighting against fraudulent activities".
