'Kedayan Historical Village'
Project Draws To A Close

Begawan - A closing ceremony for the `Kedayan Historical
Village' project was held at the Holiday Lodge Hotel in Jerudong
yesterday. It was organised by the Brunei History Centre with
assistance from the Brunei-Muara District office.
The guest of honour, Minister of
Culture,Youth and Sports Pehin Major General (R) Dato Seri
PahlawanAwang Hj Mohammad bin Hj Daud, said that such projects benefit
the community. He added that similar projects should be held more
often.
Students should be involved in such
matters as it can be part of their studies, he said, adding that this
would eventually lead them to build a community that values its own
culture.
From June 12 to 15, some 50
participants conducted a research, where they had to collect as much
information as possible over the course of three days. Various
materials were collected from all over the nation relating to the
ethnic Kedayan group.
Meanwhile, a cultural show by an
ethnic Kedayan group was the highlight of yesterday afternoon's event.
Several officers from departments under the Ministry of Culture, Youth
and Sports were also present during the closing ceremony. --
