Bandar Seri Begawan - A closing ceremony for the `Kedayan Historical Village' project was held at the Holiday Lodge Hotel in Jerudong yesterday. It was organised by the Brunei History Centre with assistance from the Brunei-Muara District office.

The guest of honour, Minister of Culture,Youth and Sports Pehin Major General (R) Dato Seri PahlawanAwang Hj Mohammad bin Hj Daud, said that such projects benefit the community. He added that similar projects should be held more often.

Students should be involved in such matters as it can be part of their studies, he said, adding that this would eventually lead them to build a community that values its own culture.

From June 12 to 15, some 50 participants conducted a research, where they had to collect as much information as possible over the course of three days. Various materials were collected from all over the nation relating to the ethnic Kedayan group.

Meanwhile, a cultural show by an ethnic Kedayan group was the highlight of yesterday afternoon's event. Several officers from departments under the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports were also present during the closing ceremony.  -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
